Raft House

There is a raft house in Musi River. The owner of the raft house is Mr. Marsudi Hanafi. This raft house was built in 2007. The shaped of the raft house is pyramid. The architecture of this house is very beautiful.At raft house, there are 4 main rooms such as, living room, dining room, bed room, and toilet. We can sit on the terrace while enjoying views of the Ampera Bridge and other activities of the raft house. The function of raft house is for the security in the region of Musi River.

Story About Pratiwi Sudarmono

Pratiwi Pujilestari Sudarmono (born July 31, 1952 in Bandung) is an Indonesian scientist. She is currently professor of microbiology at the University of Indonesia, Jakarta.

Pratiwi Sudarmono received a Master's degree from the University of Indonesia in 1977, and the Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Osaka, Japan, in 1984. She then started her scientific career as WHO grantee researching the molecular biology of Salmonella typhi. From 1994 to 2000, she was head of the Department of Microbiology of the Medical Faculty of the University of Indonesia. From 2001 to 2002, she was a scholar in the Fulbright New Century Scholars Program.

In October 1985, she was selected to take part in the NASA Space Shuttle mission STS-61-H as a Payload Specialist. Taufik Akbar was her backup on the mission. However, after the Challenger disaster the deployment of commercial satellites like the Indonesian Palapa B-3 planned for the STS-61-H mission was canceled, thus the mission never took place. The satellite was later launched with a Delta rocket.

The Tourism Object of Berastagi

A tourist to Berastagi should not miss a visit to Gundaling. Gundaling is a hill in Berastagi, district of Karo, North Sumatera. Gundaling Hill has 1575 meters high above sea level, and from there we can see the beautiful view of Berastagi overlooking to the two large mountains, namely Sibayak Mount and Sinabung Mount. In Gundaling Hill, there is Berastagi Cottage. Berastagi Cottages are located up the hill from Berastagi on the way to the top of Gundaling Hill. 1.2km from the centre of town. Beautiful garden surround the accommodation. Gundaling Hill is same like “’Puncak” in Bandung, in there the weather is very cool. In Gundaling Hill, there are “andong” or “dokar” that can take tourist around the Gundaling Hill. And then, in Gundaling hill there is a seller of rabbits, so tourist can buy some rabbits. In there, we can also buy some souvenirs from Berastagi, such as shirts, Ulos, and etc. In short, a tourist can enjoy their holiday.
